The 85th Annual Academy Awards will include a special celebration of movie musicals of the last ten years, the telecast’s producers announced today.
“The musical as a motion picture genre has had a remarkable renaissance in the last decade,”
said producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron. “We are excited to showcase three musical films — ‘Chicago,’ ‘Dreamgirls‘ and ‘Les Misérables‘— on our Oscar® show.”
Oscars for outstanding film achievements of 2012 will be presented on Oscar Sunday, February 24 at the Dolby Theatre™ at Hollywood & Highland Center®, and will be hosted by Seth MacFarlane live on the ABC Television Network. The Oscar presentation also will be televised live in more than 225 countries worldwide.
BBC: Beyonce is heading to London next month to perform at the 2013 Brit Awards.
The US singer’s been added to the line-up for February 20th, which already includes Mumford and Sons, Muse and One Direction.
Beyonce has been working on her fifth solo album but also recently unveiled a new track, Nuclear, with Destiny’s Child.
Emeli Sande has the most Brit nominations, up for four awards including British Album of the Year.
Comeback
2013 looks set to be a busy return to work for Beyonce Knowles, after she took time out in 2012 following the birth of her daughter, Blue Ivy, who recently turned one.
On 21 January 2012 Beyonce will perform the American national anthem at Barack Obama’s second presidential inauguration.
She’ll follow that in February by performing at the high profile half-time show at the US Super Bowl.
Then later in February Beyonce will release a documentary film about herself called Life is But a Dream.

With another year’s show come and gone, the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards offered up plenty of action while honoring the best in the music business.
The big winners at the Staples Center show on Sunday night (September 6) included Rihanna as Video of the Year honoree for “We Found Love” while Nicki Minaj nabbed Best Female Video for “Starships” and Chris Brown took home the Moonman for Best Male Video for “Turn Up the Music”.
